Common-sense people rejected wokeism, the Democratic Party
By George Tristan
Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 presidential campaign season, referred to Trump supporters as deplorable and irredeemable. In the waning months of the 2024 campaign, President Biden said that Trump supporters were garbage. For all the criticism of President-elect Trump for his distasteful name-calling, Hillary and Joe were no better when they insulted the over 77 million Americans who voted to return Trump back to the Whitehouse.
There is however, one very important distinction that should be acknowledged regarding the name-calling. Trump never disparages the voter. Trump is not shy when attacking his political enemies; on the other hand, the Democrats, and the mainstream media, routinely label Trump supporters as white supremacists, transphobic, insurrectionists, etc., defaming the very people whose votes they need to win office. It would appear that name-calling is not exclusive to any one political party or candidate.
If we examine the 2024 election datasets, and home in on voter demographics, we can better understand which segments of the voting public voted for Trump. In nearly every key voting demographic, Trump received greater support compared to the 2016 or 2020 elections: whether it be by race, age, education, geographic location or sex. Trump even made small gains with both suburban white women and black women, while Harris’ support from either group fell short of Biden’s 2020 results. How was this possible, considering the fact that Democrats and the mainstream media, since 2015, have incessantly labeled Trump as misogynist and racist?
Likely, what may be the hardest reality to accept by those who supported Harris, is that a significant number of Trump supporters were Americans who changed their voter registration from Democrat to Republican. If you were to ask these former Democrats (ex. Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK) why they would do such a thing, many will tell you that they did not abandon the Democrat Party, but rather, that the Democrat Party abandoned them.
During Obama’s run in 2008, he promised to fundamentally transform America. As the Democrat Party leader then, and likely still today, he worked diligently to deliver on that promise. Obama aligned with the global elites and climate alarmists, and therefore guided America closer toward ceding its sovereignty by aligning U.S. interests with global governing initiatives like the World Economic Forum and Paris Climate Accords. Obama instituted DACA and advanced an amnesty agenda for those he called “Dreamers,” eroding the enforcement of our nation’s border laws. Obama’s political rhetoric served to create more racial animus between whites and blacks during the George Floyd riots. He was publicly critical of law enforcement, which served to give rise for calls to defund the police.
Obama reversed his stance on gay marriage and supported the landmark 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision. Many are of the opinion that this ruling created the slippery slope that gave birth to the transgenderism phenomena, subsequently paving the way for boys and men to invade girls’ and women’s safe spaces. Fifteen years ago, Republicans were considered warmongers, while Democrats were considered pacifists who advanced a world peace agenda. Since that time, new wars were started during both the Obama and Biden administrations, and none during Trump’s.
Democrats tout that the one voting demographic that leaned in their favor this election cycle is the college-educated voter. The presumption being that if you earned a college degree, then naturally you were someone who held a greater understanding of any given cultural or political issue, when compared to the misguided and uneducated blue-collar voter. In times past, the Democrats would always rely on the support of the working man and union member voters. Data supports the assertion that this key voting block now votes Republican.
One of the themes of Trump’s run back to the White House, was that Republicans were the party of “common sense.” In this election cycle, many Democrats exercised common sense and critical thinking when electing to change party affiliation. They didn’t lean on the pedigree earned at their alma mater; rather, they abandoned progressivism for conservatism, to ensure that American exceptionalism was not lost. They did so to preserve the American way and the American dream. Common sense people exhibited the wisdom to reject wokeism, in favor of making American great again.
